As an addition or possible alternative to Esper, it might be worthwhile considering the pros and cons of storing the events in a Hadoop File System which splits big files across 100s of servers and sends the processing of the data to a CPU on the computer where the data is stored.

Another thought: It might be possible to combine this with Aparapi to send the processing to the GPUs on that computer.

old thread. what's with this new surge in requests for java developers in finance????? I keep getting calls on that shit, but alas my java skills are not at a rockstar level....

It's not just finance, Java/JVM is on the upswing everywhere. Mostly a combination of Hadoop and Java8.
