I'm interested in a quant career and would be thankful for some advice.

I'm happen to be very interested in programming and being decent at it. Next year I'll be finishing my B. A. in computer engineering in Portugal from a good college and my idea was to then pursue a master's in finance in another school which offers the option to take the CFA in parallel. I realize the ideal would be something like financial engineering and the likes of that but as far as I know we don't have an equivalent here. We also don't really have any quant-like jobs so I was wondering if I would then be able to work at some investment bank/trading firm with a decent pay somewhere in Europe (preferably) or in the US.

Do you think that is the most appropriate path to take? Maybe I should also get PhD? Maybe I don't really have much chance in the market and should do something else?

Thank you!
