I'm graduating top of my class with a PhD in chem engineering from a top 3 school. For research, I have done some pure theory and computation work with applications in biology. I also know how to program ok and am familiar with data analysis/science/engineering.

I found about finance while studying random walker models and machine learning. From the technical perspective, I'd be pretty happy as a quant researcher. (More so than being placed in a managerial role or in the backseat.) I'm particularly interested in working on challenging problems dealing with big data.

So far, I've applied to two funds (that I thought might be a good fit) and did not get an interview - quite discouraging. I think it might partially be due to my (rather uncommon) background. I don't want to give up yet - to me, a job as a quant researcher would be worth more than any other job.

I was hoping the NP community could help me with two things:
1. Provide feedback on my application package (cover letter, resume, etc).
2. Connect me to some funds that I'd fit well with.

Thank you!

Hi! I'm in Cambridge, MA. I'm willing and able to relocate anywhere in the US for an interesting opportunity.

The pseudonym (neilyregals) is actually a cryptographic play on my real name. :)
