Been spending less time coding/researching and more trying to optimize human portfolios and feeling like I should be better educating myself to be more effective.

Every management book I run into is either:
- How hugging and tickling while purring "You're doing a great job team" is optimal policy
- Remedial portfolio/options math misapplied to "real options"

Anyone got any good recs for a bit less fluff? Even like first year level DCF stuff is better than half of the stuff I'm trudging through.

Thanks! (That was on my reading list but now it's bumped up to the top)

+1 on Andy Grove book. Most business books are a waste of time. Grove's book wasn't.

Re: management, I found "Turn the Ship Around" by Marquet quite inspiring although I confess it matched some of my priors on management issues which may bias my opinion about it.

As an aside, I have always found these submarines guys standing way above any other ecosystems. A strange destiny for people spending most of their time way below the others!
