I'll be in HK for the next two weeks (7/29-8/11). With family visits, etc not sure if I can sneak out, but thought I'd test for interest. Anyone up for a Beer or three?

There is a slight chance I may be relocating.

Cool Beer This trip is partly business, partly family visits. We're trying to get an idea of what living here would be like and if we should seriously consider a move. I know that, professionally, it would be very good for my wife (CPA, she'll find out about L3 CFA next month, speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, and can understand Malaysian and Indonesian, and is working as a hedging analyst now) and I don't need to tell you about opportunities for us. Plus, so far it is very cool to be around the huge extended family. Princess Phorgy, who turns 2 next month, would have an automatic buddy list with nearly 20 cousins here.

Asia is a very frustrating market for me at least but if you are indeed looking for something quantitative, I can give you my 2 HK sin  on which shops to avoid at all cost.

I might be out there myself a bit later this year or early next year...

Hi tabris,

Please do tell Smiley

Either here or via email: eforgyyahoocom.

Some places I'm talking to will likely involve a stint in Tokyo to get acclimated.

when you guys set up something there, maybe you can hire me as drinking PR since the culture will be different that you guys could not stand the drinking request

Well I'm glad to say finally a small NPhest was held in HK with IamEric and...erm.. myself. Plus various assorted cronies. I think the phestivities continued until 3am or so, on a Thursday - which is good work. Any other NPers pitching up in HK, let me know....just give me some time to recover....

Cool. You fancy meeting up for a drink? Shoot me an email if you're free. I'm going to be staying in Kowloon. That place is meant to be the best?

Better to stay in HK island.

Kowloon is on the other side of the bay. If you go out late (main clubs are on the island - like the banks ;) ) you will run for the last subway or you will take a taxi which could be expensive (for HK I mean).

Nonius - it looks like you and I are following each other around Asia (don't worry - I promise I might not turn up in Tokyo as well Evil Grin).

I'm in HK on those days too and meeting Balrog on Tuesday 20th for a couple of beers so why don't you join us?

I'll ask Hooloovoo too.

Any other NPers in HK?

mkay, I'm in a phrog building that's near or in, from what I understand, Wan Chai.  there's a phrog symbol at the top of the building and phrogs drink beer accross the street from the building after work.  I'm also in shangrila hotel.  I'll drop a line.

for now, I'm a bit drunk, jet lagged, and a bit under the weather from humidity, filth, and pollution.  good night.

Nonius - balrog can no longer make it this eve & hooloovoo could not either, so let's just meet in humid but un-polluted Singapore next week.
