No, you should always surf naked because to save the sharks the trouble of spitting out the budgie smugglers after they are done with you.

Opera Bar 6:00pm tonight, lurkers welcome, look for four gentlemen, one (not me) with a booming loud NY accent.

"look for four gentlemen" at a bar in Sydney - hmmmmm - shouldn't be too hard!

I'd suggest someone bring along a working paper and leave it on the table - something to read if everyone else is late.  Wink

I'll be sending along my Double Robot

Still stuck in Sydney (sigh), but at least the Manly Jazz Festival is on.  It's pretty good this year too, Tricia Evy was awesome today at the main beachfront stage.  If anyone is around and wants to connect, the usual jam session at the pub on Monday should be good.  Double robots will probably get beaten up, again, so only real humans are encouraged to show up.

A year later and I'm no longer stuck in Sydney but will be back there for a few days between December 4th - 16th, less an overnighter to Auckland somewhere in there.  Anyone up for a beer?

Yes, among other places. It's good to see you haven't changed. I arrive in Syd on the 4th, and stay up at Manly until the 16th, except for an Auckland overnighter on the 9th-10th. When would be good for a phest?

How is the junior grump, if I may ask?

*Laughing* I was talking to someone the other day and their view on me was Chug Beer

@Adas tells me after the 7th is best. I'm happy to any thing apart from Thursdays.

Does our friend from Manly have a preference?

Any of the other lurkers out there have a view? I know you've not blown up, so come on out...

First offer: Friday 13 December. Um not this date...

Junior Grump is doing really well, more than

*EDIT* Can't do 13th. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Not the 6th or the 13th. Any other suggestions or constraints?

Edit: 12th is OK for me now.

Bumping this up. Let's shoot for the 12th, if that suits. Otherwise, let us know, thanks.

I can't make the 12th either (it's a Thursday).

Early in the week is fine for me.

I'm in like Flynn.

Is it only Northsiders, or is anyone south of the border joining?

OK. I suggest Slip Inn on Sussex Street.

I can make it from 7.30.

Adas will come after some other drinks - such a social butterfly!

Anyone else who's coming who doesn't know one of us by sight, feel free to PM me when you get to the bar.

Hey all - if you're reading this, my prior engagement has been pushed to Friday. I'll be around the city if you want to catch up.

I don't think, therefore I ham.

Thanks for the update, it helps planning. The current thinking is as per DrG below. It'll be great to catch up with everyone.

Hi all, I see no drinks have been organised here for a while...

I've just arrived in Sydney and I am wondering if there are any quant/trading related drinks?

cheers

Hi Argog,

We've been pretty slack recently. Definitely interested in catching up.

How is next week? Are you located in the city?

Hey, next week sounds good. Wednesday, Thursday or Friday would be best for me.

I am in Redfern so quite flexible as to where to go.

Quite a few people here would be keen on going - it's been too quiet. Please just post time & location well in advance for word to spread; NP off-topic is a bit hidden.

(Personally, I'm in favor of Wed/Fri and south end of CBD)

Wednesday then if it works for DrGrumpy.

I am new in Sydney, so I leave it up to someone else to suggest a place.
