Why do companies like Facebook feel the need to use Leetcode questions for their interview process but banks dont?

What are tech companies doing in their software departments that is different to software engineering in a bank?

In my most recent bout of interviewing I had a round with these type of questions at every role. And these were quant researcher/quant trader roles, not software engineering. Maybe the banks are just slower to adapt to the leetcode trend, but it's definitely happening in the prop/HF space.

Personally I'm not overly impressed with the practice, as it's really a function of time spent drilling every single question on leetcode less so than being good at working on systems. But assessing candidates objectively is hard of course, so can't blame companies for resorting to these things.
