Start by assessing your current fitness level. This doesn’t have to include just cycling, if you are a fit and active person you will be in a better position that someone who rarely exercises.

Start a gradual cycling training programme, increasing as your fitness improves and striving to go further with every ride. It is also a good idea to start resistance training; using weights to strengthen the muscles you use whilst cycling.

Once your bike and body are the envy of cycling pro’s everywhere, you are ready to start planning your routes and destinations. Make sure you do your research.
