For ornamental fish such as goldfish or koi, the choice between floating and sinking fish food is difficult. Generally, a sinking pellet fish feed is better. Goldfish are a greedy pet and will often swim to their food, grabbing pellets in a rush. As they eat their meal, they'll end up sucking air from their stomachs. You will notice that they can trap air in their poo and this is often the reason for flipping diseases. For your goldfish, only use sinking food pellets. Bottom feeder shrimp will only eat sinking pellets (1 g/cm3). They won't eat floating feed. A farmer can determine the feeding rate based on the growth of his pond. This can help confirm if the feeding rate is too low or high. www.floatingfeedmachine.com |
